Visualization data for the CDC/CFA-operated respiratory virus forecast hubs: covid19-forecast-hub and rsv-forecast-hub.
This repository is the staging place for data that facilitates the public-facing forecast visualizations at CDC https://www.cdc.gov/cfa-modeling-and-forecasting/; it does not host the forecasts themselves or any modelling code.
The data are organized under weekly-summaries/, with a subdirectory per hub (covid19-forecast-hub/, rsv-forecast-hub/) and one dated folder per weekly ensemble reference date. Each dated folder contains a map CSV, a timeseries CSV of all submitted models, a target-data (truth) CSV, and a markdown web-text used to populate the corresponding CDC.gov page. The full schema for each of these artifacts lives in weekly-summaries/README.md.
The contents of this repository are produced by a partially automated pipeline. The generate-visualization-data.yaml GitHub Actions workflow looks for the covid-ensemble-added and rsv-ensemble-added repository-dispatch events (which are dispatched by the upstream hubs when a new ensemble is published), runs the hubhelpr tooling to merge each hub's model-output/ with NHSN hospital admissions and NSSP emergency-department visit data, and opens a pull request adding the new dated folder. To regenerate data for a given week (e.g., if the automated run failed or upstream data changed), trigger the workflow manually via workflow_dispatch, choosing the disease (covid or rsv) and optionally a Saturday reference date; if reference date is left empty, the latest is used.
