with an adblocker, a popup appears telling one to either disable their adblocker or get premium.
this extension removes the ability for the website to recognize the adblocker as disabled

i did a binary search to determine this issue is related to this addon as it did not happen with only ublock origin.
a user also had this issue on opera gx which as to my knowledge use a similar anti tracking measure
